So yesterday I decided to draft I was sitting with two player I knew pretty well on each side of me so I was confident I would be getting good signals.

So its Tuesday and everyone knows what that means, Drafting. Of course the current draft format is SSE so thats what we did.

Return From GenCon

Well I’m back from Gencon. I had a great time hanging out with players i haven’t seen since last year and meeting new ones. I played in a number of events mostly unsuccessfully. I need to determine what events I plan to play in before I go next year because once I got there i realized i would not be able to play in everything I planned to. Also balancing playing in events and enjoying the Con is difficult because many of the events will take the entire day.

Legacy Testing for Gencon

So yesterday we did some testing for legacy against various decks such as Dragon Stompy, UGr Threshold, 4-color Landstill, dredge, and Angel Stompy. I’ve narrowed down the Deck i may play to Threshold, Dragon Stompy, or Dredge.

Tuesday Drafts #2

So the first draft did not go so well, but my friends convince me to play again. I knew sitting down at the table I would be in for a fight looking around there were some very good players at the table and of course the one I have to face is one I consider to be the luckiest player in the room Zhi.

So I decide to join one of the drafts with a few friends and some other good players.

Tuesday Nights at Coolstuff

So Tuesday nights usually have me hanging out at coolstuff waiting to draft. Lately more and more people have gotten into EDH so Ive been messing around with my white weenie EDH around Soraya the Falconer. It’s not very good a few of the people have Decks around Oona Queen of the Fae. Their decks contain all stars like mana drain, yawgmoth’s will, library of alexandria, and a plethora of dual lands.

Occasionally we cube draft when we don’t want to join in one of the drafts. Cube drafts are always fun where you can either try and draft crazy control decks, fast aggro decks, or even combo decks like alluren. My cube got started around last year at the time of the invitational. What got me to go and get more cards for it was when I was at GP Daytona and the was a dealer there with a dammaged rares binder. Most of the cards looked like they had gotten wet or were heavily played, but it gave me the opportunity to get great rares for my cube at super low prices.

Of course Tuesday is just not Tuesday without doing at least one draft of the current set. Usually the are anywhere from six or more drafts a night at Coolstuff. This gives me the opportunity to either get in a competitive one if i feel up to the challenge or join a draft with players i am more confident in out playing.
